Supplements
Why supplement? Two very important reasons, right off the bat:
- First, the Standard American Diet (SAD) is just that… rather “sad.” As a nation, as a society, we tend to eat rather – no, make that VERY – poorly. Ours is a convenience culture, where fast food and processed foods are so readily available, and tasty, that we, again, tend to make very poor diet choices.
- Secondly, even when we DO try to eat well, our food comes from nutrient-depleted, pesticide- and herbicide-laden soil. Truly nutritious, whole foods are the exception rather than the rule.
What to supplement? How do we know what we really need? Ah, that’s a great question! Actually, the answer is rather simple. Your nutritional status, your nutritional strengths and weaknesses, can be measured very easily and very accurately. It doesn’t have to be a guessing game. You can be a smart consumer.
Which supplement? Again, a great question! The supplement industry with its myriad offerings, claims, and slick commercials is, after all, an unregulated industry. What’s on the label may or may not closely resemble what’s actually inside the bottle. How do you know whether what you THINK you’re taking is what you’re REALLY taking? Simply: by knowing which manufacturers and product lines you can trust. At LWI, we recommend a very limited, select number of product lines. Some are available in our office, others through our website.
